Russell "Terry" Wood, Sr.

Russell “Terry” Wood, Sr. 70, of Lee County, GA, died February 15, 2018 at his residence. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Ken Chancellor will officiate. Active pallbearers will be Bob Brooks, Dale Saunders, Richard Boyd, Lee Williams, Charlie Thorne and Tom Wilson. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Arlington, GA with Military Honors provided by American Legion Post # 30 and the Patriot Guard will escort the funeral procession.

A native of Madison, TN, Terry grew up in Miami, FL and Chattanooga, TN. He enlisted in the United States Navy and became a Navy Corpsman attached to the Marines in Vietnam and was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Star and three Purple Hearts. He was later transferred to the Naval Air Station in Albany, GA and after his discharge he was employed with Norfolk Southern Railway. For the last twenty years, Terry was associated with the Brooks Real Estate Management Company and was a private commercial pilot. He loved to ride his Harley, travel with his wife in their RV and was active in the Albany Humane Society.

Survivors include his wife, Jay Wood, his children and their spouses, Terry Wood, Jr. and Misty and Penny Whitman and Eric all of Lee County, GA, his step-children, Priscilla Kidd and her husband, Todd of Richland, GA and Erica Robertson of Coconut Creek, FL, seven grandchildren, Ryan Wood, Lillie Wood, Haley Whitman, Holley Whitman and Luke Whitman all of Lee County, GA, Caitlyn Kidd and Riley Kidd both of Richland, GA. Those desiring may make contributions to the Albany Humane Society, 1705 Oakridge Dr., Albany, GA 31707.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral services at Mathews Funeral Home.
