Roy Bragan Roney

Roy Bragan Roney, 77, of Edison, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, February 20, 2025 at the Willson Hospice House. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Salem Baptist Church, Edison, GA. Rev. Daniel McFather will officiate. Interment will follow to Cordrey Methodist Church Cemetery. 

Born in Edison, GA at home on July 1, 1947 to the late Willie Cecil and Sudie Bragan Roney. For his entire career, Roy dedicated himself as a diesel mechanic, a profession that not only showcased his technical skills but also his deep passion for machinery. He had a particular fondness for working on old tractors.

Roy found immense joy in the company of his family, cherishing the moments spent with his grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting and fishing when he was able, and he enjoyed gathering with loved ones over meals, often inquiring about "what's for supper." He was a member of Salem Baptist Church. 

Roy was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lousie Roney, and his brother, W.C. Roney.

He is survived by his three children: Donna Roney Blanton (Barry) of Coleman, GA; Neal “Buck” Roney (Cindy) of Edison, GA; and Shane Roney of Patmos, GA. four grandchildren: Daylon Blanton (Amber) of Edison, GA; Braylie Spurlock (Dylan) of Patmos, GA; Lindsey Roney Kelly (Shane) of Newton, GA; and Macy Ford of Panama City, FL, as well as two great-grandchildren, Ridge and Emmalyn. He is also survived by his siblings: Laura Roney Bruner of Lee County; Betty Hilton of Edison, GA; Jean Clower (Melvin) of Albany, GA; and Pat Grace of Lee County.

The family will receive family and friends on Monday, February 24, 2025 at Mathews Funeral Home from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM
