Roy L. McDade, 76, of Baconton, GA, died Sunday, September 9, 2012 at his residence. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Ken Chancellor will officiate. Interment will follow in Sale City Cemetery.
A native of Milledgeville, GA, Mr. McDade had resided in Baconton, GA for the past twelve years moving from Albany, GA. Mr. McDade was a veteran of the Korean War, served in the National Guard, Army and Air Force where he was a certified aircraft mechanic. He retired from United Insurance Company of America where he was their district manager.
Mr. McDade had been very active in former years with the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge # 713. He served as training union director, greeter and usher, he was a member The Pastor's Sunday School Class and served as a host at Lakeside Baptist Church where he was a member.
Survivors include his wife, Sylvia J. McDade, Baconton, GA, a son, Terry Lee McDade, Lakeland, FL, two daughters, Tammy Hammock, Albany, GA, Robyn McDade, Leesburg, GA, two step-sons, Greg J. Hatcher, Lee Co., GA, Robert Shane Hatcher, Mitchell Co., GA, three brothers, Harry McDade, Milledgeville, GA, Johnny McDade, Vidalia, GA, Harvey McDade, Milledgeville, GA and ten grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 11, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home.
