Ronnie "Big Daddy" Joe Misamore

Ronnie Joe Misamore (Big Daddy), 80, of Albany, Georgia, went to be with the Lord and his loving wife Louise on Thursday, September 12, 2024 at his residence. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 24th at Mathews Funeral Home at 4:30 pm. Chaplin Joey Holland will officiate.

Born on June 27, 1944, in Gray, Tennessee, to the late William C. and Lavada Canter Misamore, Ron, or Big Daddy as he was affectionately known to most, grew up with a love of his country, his family, and sports- especially his beloved Atlanta Braves. A proud veteran, Ronnie served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War and was stationed at Da Nang Air Force Base. Following his military service, Ronnie pursued higher education and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in accounting from East Tennessee State University, in Johnson City, Tennessee.

On January 7, 1966, Ron and Louise married and through his military service lived in various Air Force base stations within the United States, eventually settling in Macon, GA at Robins Air Force Base. Together Ron and Louise had two children, Chris Misamore, and Jeffrey Misamore. After 43 years of service at Robins, Ron retired from Robins Air Force Base, where he served as the Chief of Auditing for the Air Force Audit Agency.

Ron had a wide range of interests. He loved to fish and taught both of his boys the enjoyment in that sport. He loved to garden and play golf and spent many weekends enjoying these activities. His passion though was his beloved Atlanta Braves, and he held a strong fondness for his beloved Tennessee Volunteers as well. Remarkably, he even cheered on the Georgia Bulldogs, after his two granddaughters became “Dawgs” with their college choice several years ago. His family was what Ron cherished most in life and always looked forward to times spent with everyone together. He also treasured his regular Thursday evening outings at Los Vaqueros to eat and enjoy food and fellowship with everyone that joined he and his family for food and a margarita.

He is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Louise Misamore.

Ron is survived by his, son Chris Misamore and his wife, Birgit of Albany, GA, his son Jeffrey Misamore of Sandy Springs, GA, his sister Linda Cook of Kissimmee, FL, sister-in-law Ellen Torbett of Piney Flats, TN, granddaughter EmilieAnne Misamore and future grandson-in-law Marshall Baker of Savannah, GA, granddaughter Camden Misamore, and grandson Landon Misamore.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) at www.vva.org
