Ronald Wilson “Ronnie” Jenkins, Sr., of Worth County died Thursday, April 19, 2018 at Pruitt Health-Sylvester. Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday April 22, 2018 at Mathews Funeral Home with interment in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Worth County. Rev. Matt Harrell and Rev. George Howell will officiate.
Born in Wedowee, AL to the late Wilburn Russell Jenkins and Jennie Mae Parker Jenkins, Mr. Jenkins lived in Albany, GA for over 40 years where he was in the construction business. He worked for GA Sand & Grading as a young man, and later started his own business, Albany Sand & Grading, which he ran for nearly 40 years. He sponsored two softball teams (ASG after his company name) in which he was an active player for over 20 years. He loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was a barbecue Pitmaster at the Big Pig Jig and other Memphis Barbecue Network competitions for 25 years. He was an active member of First Southern Methodist Church of Albany until health issues hindered him. He was a Layman minister in the Methodist Church in which he shared the gospel with every soul he met. His number one passion in life was to serve the Lord. He cherished his family more than words can express. He touched the lives of many friends. He was selfless in his generosity toward others. To truly know him was to love him. He and his beloved wife were blessed in marriage for almost 44 years, and have 2 children, Julie Jenkins Milton and Ronald Wilson Jenkins, Jr., (Will). His 3 grandchildren were his precious treasures.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Calvin D. Parker and Katie C. Parker, his parents Wilburn Russell Jenkins and Jennie Parker Gregory, a sister Wanda Pantone and four brothers, Errol Jenkins, Richard Jenkins, Gene Jenkins and Robert Jenkins.
Survivors include his wife, Elaine C. Jenkins, of Worth County, GA., a daughter Julie Jenkins Milton (Kenneth), a son, Ronald Wilson “Will” Jenkins, Jr. ( Krista Norman), his grandchildren, Landon Milton, Madison Jenkins and Luke Milton, his sister, Kathy Levins (David) all of Sylvester, GA. and many nieces and nephews.
