Ronald David Akridge, Sr

Ronald David Akridge, Sr., 68, of Lake Blackshear, GA, died Thursday, October 25, 2012 at Willson Hospice House. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, October 28, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Rick Hamilton will officiate. Interment will follow in Warwick United Methodist Church Cemetery.

A native of Berrien Co., GA, Mr. Akridge had resided in Albany, GA since 1954 and moved to Lake Blackshear seven years ago. He was a 1961 graduate of Albany High School and was retired from the Albany Fire Department. He owned Ronald Akridge Contracting, and was a member of Masonic Lodge # 24 F&AM, the Association of Retired Firefighters, the BPOE Lodge # 713, the Anchor Sunday School Class and Warwick United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Cauley Akridge and Theodocia Inez Griffin Akridge.

Survivors include his wife, Kay Rycroft Akridge, Crisp Co., GA, a son, Ronald D. (Bo) Akridge, Jr. (Jennifer), Oakfield, GA, a daughter, Allyson Akridge Jones (Blake), Albany, GA, two sisters, Beverly Parrish, Valdosta, GA, Hazel Harrelson (Earl), Cordele, GA and four grandchildren, McKenna, Sarah Parker, Jonathan, and Walker.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home.
