Roger Z. "Rabbit" Gardner

Roger Z. “Rabbit” Gardner, 68, of Lee County, GA, died January 16, 2024 at his residence.  Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:00 pm at Mathews Funeral Home.  Mr. Ross Powell will officiate.  Interment will follow in Leesburg Cemetery with Masonic Rights.

Roger was born in Albany, GA on January 9, 1956 to Lewis and Minnie Gardner.  He was raised in Lee County, GA and graduated from Lee County High School in 1974.  He worked in construction all of his life, was an iron worker and crane operator, and owned and operated AAA Inspection Service, Inc since 1999.

Roger was a member of Chehaw Lodge #701 F&AM, the Loyal Order of The Moose #1285 and the Sportsman Club.  He loved to fish and ride motorcycles and he dearly loved all his family and friends.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Danny, Robert, Pat and Davis, and his grandson, Austin Morey.

Survivors include his children, Katrina Taylor of Panama City Beach, FL, Melissa (Joey) Jacobs and Roger Z. “Boot” Gardner all of Albany, GA and Kenneth L. (Maureen) Gardner of Oakfield, GA, his girlfriend, Beth Bailey Shelton of Ty Ty, GA, nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm Friday at Mathews Funeral Home.
