Robert (Bob) Calvin Whitfield

Robert Calvin (Bob) Whitfield, 84, of Albany, GA died Sunday, December 15, 2013 at Lee County Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 3:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Chip Gresham will officiate. Interment will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery.

A native of Tampa Shores, FL, Mr. Whitfield grew up in Funston, GA and had resided in Albany since 1974. He retired from the United Sates Army after twenty years and was a veteran of Korea. After moving to Albany, GA, Mr. Whitfield was employed with Trailways Bus Lines and Harvey's Supermarkets. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and The American Legion Post # 30. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Carswell Whitfield, father, Zackie Whitfield, mother, Mittie Adell Summerlin Whitfield, siblings, Margie Whitfield, Zackie Leah Hammock, Everett Lowton Whitfield, Nancy Whitfield, Corine Whitfield Mitchell, Nettie Whitfield Street, Asbury Whitfield, and Louis Whitfield, .

Survivors include his sister, Laura Whitfield Koonz of Albany, GA, two step-daughters, Barbara Webb and her husband Roger and Linda Bridges of all of Lee County, GA, two step-sons, James Carswell of Albany, GA and William Carswell and his wife, Michele of Lee County, GA, eight grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews..

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2:00 PM until funeral time at Mathews Funeral Home.
