Robert Lloyd "Bob" Rachals, III of Albany died Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at Palmyra Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, September 10, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Byne Memorial Baptist Church. Rev. Charlie Brown and Dr. Matthew Nance will officiate. Interment will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery.
A native and lifelong resident of Albany, GA, Mr. Rachals was retired from the Federal State Inspection Service. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Navy, where he received the WWII Victory Medal and the Philippines Liberation Metal along with the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Metal and six service stars.
He was a member at Byne Memorial Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school for ten years, and was a vital part in starting the bus ministry. He was a Cub Scout and Boy Scout Master, for over ten years where he received the Scouter’s Award, Scouter's Key and Training Award Metals and a member of the Order of Arrow. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #591 F&AM, American Legion Post #30, and a former member of the VFW Post #2785 and Downtown Exchange Club.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys Fore Rachals, Albany, GA, three sons, Robert L. Rachals, IV, (Carla), Destin, FL, Roger W. Rachals (Terri), Albany, GA, Reggie D. Rachals (Melissa), Lee Co., GA, three daughters, Rhonda Giddens, Albany, GA, Rita Lowery (Rev. Tommy Lowery), Lee Co., GA, Renee Gail McNeal (Dean), Lee Co., GA, eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
