Robert K. Ivey, 87, of Troy, S.C., formerly of Smithville, GA, and Phenix City, Alabama died Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at Hospice Care of the Piedmont in Greenwood, S.C. Graveside funeral services will be conducted Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at Smithville City Cemetery. Rev. Bobby Moye will officiate.
He is preceded in death by his parents, George Samuel and Sallie Turner and his much beloved brother, Robert Leo and his wife, Gladys (Nanny); five brothers, George Comer, Robert Mallon, Samuel Revel, James Arnold and George Turner; and three sisters, Annie Louise, Dorothy Emily Agnes, and Sara Zaide Mae (Bill).
Survivors include his wife Cherry Breeden Ivey of Troy, S.C., and step-daughter, Donna Windham of Smithville, Georgia. He had a special love in his heart for his nieces and nephews of Phenix City, Alabama; Ronnie and Pat Ivey, Charles and Lynda Ivey, Priscilla and Jack Niebel, Grady and Margie Ivey, Gypsy Toole, and Leo and Becky Ivey. He was also blessed with many step-children, step-grandchildren, and many great nieces and nephews who affectionately called him, "Unc."
Robert Ivey served as a sergeant in the United States Army from 1946 to 1949.
