Robert John Grebel

Robert (Bob) John Grebel, 90, of Albany, GA, died July 10, 2014 at Willson Hospice House. Memorial services will be held Monday, July 14 at 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church of Albany.

A native of Grand Rapids, MI, Mr. Grebel served in World War II with the 42nd Infantry Division and participated in the liberation of Dachau.

He lived in Miami, FL where he was a firefighter with the city of Miami for over 31 years. He also owned Grebel Brothers Air Conditioning in Miami. After retiring he moved to Albany, GA in 1983 where he was employed with Burger King Corporation and Pine Forest Apartments. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Albany since 1990.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth B. Grebel of Albany, GA, a son, Rev. David Grebel and his wife, Rev. Katherine Godby of Arlington, TX; two daughters, Robyn Spring and her husband, Randy of Lee County, GA; and Susan Byler and her husband, Mark of Tallahassee, FL; sister, Elma McKinnon of Italy, TX; sister-in-law Jane Hawkins of Columbia, TN; eight grandchildren, Benjamin Lansford and his wife, Joanna of Lee County, GA; Robert Grebel, II and his wife Jennifer Forester of Denton, TX; Jessica Burns and her husband, Randy of Tallahassee, FL; Deborah Grebel-Becker and her husband, Kevin of Lewisville, TX; Katie Grebel of Arlington, TX; Donnie Tollefson of Lee County, GA; Luke Byler of Tallahassee, FL; and David Tollefson of Lee County, GA; and four great-grandchildren. Also family friend Pam Nelson of Albany, GA.
