Robert Wallace Bruner

Robert Wallace Bruner, 82, of Albany, GA, went to his heavenly home Sunday, May 22, 2016 at his residence. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Debbie Cone will officiate. Interment will follow at Floral Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Born in Coleman, GA to the late Beamon D. and Mary Louise Bruner, he moved to Albany, GA in 1945 and graduated from Albany High School in 1954. Robert was a member of the United States Army National Guard for twenty seven years and retired in 1977 as Sergeant First Class. He worked at Albany Concrete Products/ Concrete Industries, service manager at Georgia Mack and shop supervisor for the Dougherty County School System's school bus shop in which he retired from in 1996.

Robert was a member of Quail Unlimited Albany Chapter for many years. He was a member of Avalon United Methodist Church, the Bands of Gold Sunday School, and Disciples Sunday School Class.

Robert enjoyed fishing, gardening, hunting and spending time with family.

Survivors include his wife of sixty two years, Shirley Kay Barton Bruner, a son, Robert Lee (Bobby) Bruner (Darlene), of Albany, GA., and a daughter, Donna Bruner Parr Martenn (Chuck), of Leesburg,GA, two sisters, Helen Lush BrunerTanner, Hampton, GA, Lucille Bruner Garrison, Americus, GA, a sister-in-law, Margaret Stone Bruner, Albany, GA, four grandchildren, Starla Bruner Fincher (David), Beverly Reece, Heather Parr Sharpe (Jay), Amanda Parr White (Austin), ten great-grandchildren, Gregory Williams, Jr. (Kristilynn Tyler), Jasmine Bruner, Tyler Williams, Kaylee Williams, Brianna Reece, Holly Reece, MaryJane Short, Ariel Reece, Landon Sharpe and Owen Sharpe.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1:30 p.m. until the funeral hour at Mathews Funeral Home.
