Rickey Wayne Hopkins

Rickey Wayne Hopkins, 61, of Leesburg, GA, died Saturday, December 19, 2015 at his residence.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 2, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel at Sherwood Baptist Church with the celebration of his life immediately following the memorial. Rev. Chris Turner and Mr. Ryan Dunnagan will officiate. He wants his friends to join the celebration of his life where, at his request, he is going to make sure everyone gets fed some good Georgia cooking and he just wanted everyone to enjoy the food and fellowship. There will also be friends who will be sharing stories of their life experiences with Ricky.

Born in Fitzgerald, GA, Ricky had resided in Leesburg, GA for the past fifteen years moving from Albany, GA. He was married to his "love at first sight" sweetheart, Karen, for 39 years.

Before his illness, he was a truck driver and volunteered at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital where he made some good friends. He loved riding his motorcycle, reading, serving people and also aggravating those he loved. He attended Sherwood Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Lee Hopkins and Mildred Lavon Huckaby Hopkins; a brother, Robbie Hopkins; two sisters, Gloria Letchworth and Mary Zinke; a half-brother, Tommy Beard and a half sister, Lucille Helms.

Survivors include his wife, Karen Akins Hopkins, Leesburg, GA; a brother, C.E. Hopkins (Laura), Middleburg, FL; two sisters, Peggy Benton (Larry), Brooks County, GA, Vickey Harrison (Pete), Buford, GA; half-sister, Agnes Garrett, Atlanta, GA and numerous nieces and nephews.
