Richard Whitfield

Richard Gary Whitfield, 79, of Albany, GA, died October 23, 2021 at his residence.  Graveside funeral services will be conducted Tuesday October 26, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Crown Hill Cemetery.  Pastor Cory Wise will officiate.  The family will receive friends Monday October 25, 2021 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Mathews Funeral Home.

Gary was born on October 17, 1942 in Albany to Donald Russell Whitfield and Bertha Mae Ramsey Whitfield.  He graduated from Albany High School in 1960, attended Georgia Southwestern College and served in the Georgia Army National Guard.

Gary was employed with Albany Water, Gas and Light for over 45 years and was a member of Life Gate Church.  He was a true outdoorsman and loved all types of hunting especially turkey hunting.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Whitfield of Albany, his children, Lisa Whitfield of Albany and Bryan (Becki) Whitfield of Lee County, his grandchildren, Hannah (Dalton) Bridges of Edgewood, NM, Haley (Justin) Hancock of Tifton, Jordan Whitfield of Athens, GA and Jackson Whitfield of Lee County and two brothers, Ronnie (Sheila) Whitfield of Big Canoe, GA and Wayne (Lynne) Whitfield of Albany.
