Richard Lee Hunter

Richard L. Hunter, 66, of Lee County, GA, died January 26, 2014 at his residence. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Bobby Moye will officiate. Interment will follow in Leesburg Cemetery with Masonic Rites.

A native of Albany, GA, born to the late Harry and Maude Hunter, Richard graduated from Dougherty High School in 1965 and served in the Army National Guard. He moved to Lee County, GA in 1967 and was employed with Transpower, Inc. for over thirty years.

Richard was a member of Albany Lodge # 24 F&AM and was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason. He was also a member of Hasan Shriners where he served on the Directors Staff and was Director from 2000 until 2008. Richard was a member of and Past President of the Albany Shrine Club and was a member of the Royal Order of The Jesters, Court # 159 and served as Director in 1997.

Survivors include his longtime companion, Betty Reddick of Lee County, GA, a brother and his wife, Glen and Nellie of Lilburn, GA, a sister, Patricia Hunter of La Grange, GA, a nephew, J. P. Hunter and his wife, Kathleen Hunter of Lyford, TX, a niece, Chris Hunter of Lawrenceville, GA, cousin, Kenny Nichols and his wife, Sheryl of Albany, GA, Betty's children, Doug and wife, Michelle Snider of Marietta, GA and Susan Snider of Columbus, GA, grandchildren Douglas and Miranda Snider, and great-grandchildren Prather Massey and Ashtyn Mewbourne.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at Mathews Funeral Home.
