Richard Allen Garner

Richard Allen Garner, 60, of Sylvester, GA., fell asleep on Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at his residence. A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 12, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at 150 Findley Road, Sylvester, GA. Rev. Sam Sullivan will officiate.

Mr. Garner was born on September 12, 1959 in Atlanta to the late Joseph Garner and Eleanor “Lena” Garner Lupo.  He had lived in Sylvester for the past 12 years after moving there from Michigan where he had lived for 15 years.  While in Michigan, he met and married his true love, Melissa Ann Deem on November 4, 1995.  Mr. Garner was skilled carpenter who worked for LRA Construction for many years before retiring.  He was a talented musician who enjoyed playing the guitar, singing and was so talented that he won a Karaoke Contest singing a song by Randy Travis.  He had many interests and hobbies but the greatest love of his life was his family.  Mr. Garner was of the Christian Faith and a member of The Way International. 

Survivors include his beloved wife, Melissa Ann Garner of Sylvester; his sons, Richard D. Garner of Monroe, GA, 2nd LT. Zackary Garner (Autumn) of Ft. Rucker, AL, and SPC. Jacob Garner of Ft. Stewart, GA; 2 grandchildren, Kaleb Garner and Josie Rose Garner; 3 brothers, David Garner (Jeannine) of Phenix City, AL, Mark Garner (Carol) of Smithville, GA, and Dennis Garner (Kim) of Lanett, AL; a sister, Shanna Cook of Sandy Springs, GA; his step-mother, Jackie Garner of Albany, GA; his step-father, Tony Lupo of Branford, FL; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Garner was preceded in death by a grandchild, Kayne Garner.
