Richard Farris, 93, of Leesburg, GA, died September 5, 2017 at his residence. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 9th at 11:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church of Albany. Rev. Thad Haygood and Rev. Scott Stanfill will officiate. A short service will immediately follow at Leesburg Cemetery.
A native of Pelham, GA, born to the late Joseph and Rosa Farris, Mr. Farris attended school in Pelham, and joined the US Army to support World War II efforts. He lived in Pelham and Albany before moving to Lee County. He married Betty Jo Mask on September 23, 1960. He moved to Leesburg, Georgia in 1962 with his wife, Jo Mask Farris, and resided there for over 54 years. He worked as a television repairman at Duncan TV service and Fredâs TV Services. He was a longtime member of the American Legion and the United States Power Squadron. He was a member of First Methodist Church of Albany, Georgia. Mr. Farris was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Rosa Farris, his sisters Alice Farris Lawson, Louse Farris Nahara, Victoria Farris, and Rosa Lee Farris, his brothers, George Farris and Jimmy Farris, and an infant sibling.
Survivors include his wife, Jo Mask Farris, his daughter, Ruth Farris Rhames (Chris) of Poulan, GA, two granddaughters, Camille and Robyn Rhames of Poulan, GA, his brother Joe Farris Jr. of Stockbridge, GA, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 AM on Saturday before the service at First United Methodist Church of Albany.
