Richard “Dick” Warren Guilds, 80, of Lee County, GA., died Wednesday, February 28, 2024. A memorial service will be held Monday, March 4, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Gillionville Baptist Church. Rev. Roy Cook and Rev. Chad Ellis will officiate.
Mr. Guilds was born in Cass City, MI to the late Warren and Elenor Guilds. Dick served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. After his service time he worked at California Food Industry for many years. He later moved to Albany in 1992. Dick was an entrepreneur and owned several businesses in town such as Guilds Mart, Guilds Antiques and J and M Cleaning service.
He was a very generous man and gave of himself to everyone. Dick would often gather broken toys, take them home to repair and donate them to different organizations. He was an active member of Gillionville Baptist Church where he attended Whitfield Sunday School class and was the captain of one of the church cooking teams.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Jane Dickey, a daughter Gena Douthit, a brother-in-law Dave Bostin, and his mother-in-law, Carolyn S. Gibbs.
Survivors include his wife Pattie Guilds, his son Josh Guilds, two sisters, Arlene Brown and Patsy Bostin, a brother William Warren Guilds, two sister-in-law’s, Mary Jane Banks and Jerri Goff (Steve), Robyn and Mark Peeples, who were like children, his best friend Mike Contini, many nieces and nephews and his puppies Bently and Maggie.
Those desiring may make donations in memory of Mr. Guilds to Gillionville Baptist Church. 4614 Gillionville Road, Albany, GA 31721.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
