Reba Sinquefield Gillis, 80, of Lee County, GA, died February 27, 2017 at the Willson Hospice House. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Leesburg. Dr. Todd Sullens will officiate. Entombment will follow at the Crown Hill Mausoleum.
Reba was born on November 1, 1936 in Randolph County, GA to the late Truman and Myrtie Sinquefield. She graduated from Arabi High School and and Abraham Baldwin College and worked for over thirty years in the insurance field including the Lee County Farm Bureau.
After retiring, she worked part time at the Georgia Department of Labor offices in Albany for over ten years. Reba had a strong work ethic and was very loyal and devoted to her jobs. She was a devoted wife and loved her children and family. Reba was a member and attended the First Baptist Church of Leesburg and enjoyed and loved the Sunday Sisters Sunday School Class.
She was preceded in death by her husband of thirty one years, Milton Gillis in 1995, three brothers, Loy Sinquefield, Hoyt Sinquefield and Ray Sinquefield, three sisters, Helen Gladney, Glenda Sinquefield and Sara Sinquefield, a son-in-law, Robert Thrower and a special niece, Peggy Casey.
She is survived by four daughters, Cindy Franklin, Lisa (Leon) Slappey, Melissa Gillis and Debbie Thrower, seven grandchildren, Caleb (Brandy) Franklin, Matthew Slappey, Levi Franklin, Meagan Slappey, Tara Thrower, Dylan Thrower and Tatum Thrower. two sister-in-laws, Rose Marie Sinquefield and Catherine Pierce and many other extended family members and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday at Mathews Funeral Home.
