Raymond Paul O'Connor, Jr

Raymond Paul (Ray) O'Connor Jr., 78, of Albany, GA, died June 11, 2012 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 AM at Gillionville Baptist Church. Rev. Tony Haefs will officiate. A private interment will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery.

A native of Tiffin, OH, Mr. O'Connor graduated from Tiffin High School and Tiffin University. He served in the United States Army in Korea and moved to Albany, GA from Newark, OH in 1973. Mr. O'Connor was the purchasing manager for MacGregor Golf Company until he retired in 1991. He was also employed with Thomas and Betts Lighting in Bainbridge, GA and Thrush Aircraft of Albany.

Mr. O'Connor attended Gillionville Baptist Church and the Micha Sunday School Class. He was past president of the Purchasing Agents Association and was an avid golfer at Radium Springs Country Club.

Survivors include his wife, Doris O'Connor of Albany, GA, his two sons, Mark O'Connor and his wife, Heather and Ricky Godwin and his wife, Marlene all of Leesburg, GA, his four daughters, Terri Peck and her husband, Wayne of Cuthbert, GA, Karen Floyd and her husband, Jimmie and Tina Lewis all of Leesburg, GA and Terri Macolly and her husband, Phil of Albany, GA, a sister, Jean Sponseller of Ashville, NC, his grandchildren, Raeanne O'Connor and Elizabeth O'Connor both of Leesburg, GA, Melissa Dills and her husband, Wayne and Jessica Conner and her husband, Jeffery all of Arlington, GA, Dayne Godwin and Ann Marie Macolly all of Albany, GA, four great-grandchildren and his pet, Nick.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home.
