Raymond J. “Ray” Campbell, 91, of Albany, GA, died June 24, 2024 at Wynfield Park Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 28, 2024 at 11:00 am at Mathews Funeral Home. Ross Powell will officiate. Interment will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery with Military Honors.
Ray was born in York, PA on February 5, 1933 to John and Mary Alice Campbell. He grew up there and after graduating from Conoy Township High School, Ray joined the United States Navy and served in the Submarine force. Ray served during the Korean Conflict and was discharged in 1955.
Ray moved to Albany, GA in 1976 to work at the Marine Corps Logistic Base and retired in 1988. He was a Master Mason and member of Triangle Lodge # 708 F&AM and was also a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason. Ray was a member of Hasan Shriners, where he served in The Legion of Honor, was instrumental in and managing the Bingo for Hasan for many years and also drove many children to Shriners Hospital for Children in Tampa, FL.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Dianne Campbell of Albany, GA, three children, Tim Campbell of Douglasville, GA, Dr. Donald Campbell of Atlanta, GA and Tracy Campbell Reyes of Texas, a step-daughter, Dannielle (Billy) Cook of Leesburg, GA, his grandchildren, Kassandra Tuten, Diana “Boo” Tuten, Brett Campbell, Lindsey Leitch and Samantha Reyes and many great-grand children.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 10:00 am until 11:00 am before the service at Mathews Funeral Home.
