Raymond B. Barfield

Raymond B. Barfield, 85, of Albany, GA, died Sunday, December 11, 2011 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Chip Gresham will officiate. Interment will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery.

A native of Worth Co., GA, Mr. Barfield had resided in Albany, GA, since 1947. He was a WW II veteran serving in the Navy, a retired painter and a member of the Albany Exchange Club. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where he was a member of the Men's Sunday School Class and served as a deacon. Mr. Barfield was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Reynolds Barfield.

Survivors include his wife, Rena Raburn Barfield, Albany, GA, two sons, Ray Barfield (Elaine), Bedford, PA, Michael Barfield (Leitha), Vidalia, GA, a step-son, Allen Raburn (Martha), Cordele, GA, two step-daughters, Marie Bridges (Wade), Middleburg, FL, Susan Kimsey (Charles), Chamblee, GA, a sister, Juanita Copeland, Sebring, FL, three grandchildren, Eric Barfield (Teresa), Haley Barfield, Summer Adams and many extended family members.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home.
