Ralph J. Fitzmaurice, 82, of Leesburg, GA, died July 1, 2024 at Piedmont Healthcare in Atlanta, GA. A memorial service will be held at a later date at St. Teresa’s Catholic Church and interment will be held in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA with Military Honors.
Ralph was born in Quincy, MA on June 20, 1942 to the late Thomas Leo and Lillian Helen Fitzmaurice. He grew up in Quincy and graduated from Quincy High School. Ralph joined the United States Army, served six years and was very proud of serving in the 82nd Airborne Division.
After his Military service, Ralph was employed with the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority for twenty years. He then owned and operated Blaze Dale Kennels for forty years and for the last ten years, trained birddogs in Terrell, Sumter and Lee Counties. He also donated many hours at Round Pond and Pretty Pond Plantation driving the dog wagon and assisting in field trials. In his spare time, Ralph enjoyed offshore fishing.
Survivors include his children, Ralph J. Fitzmaurice, Jr and his wife, Krystal of Manchester, TN and Kristen Fitzmaurice of Melbourne, FL, one brother, Thomas Fitzmaurice and his wife, Judy of Holbrook, MA, two grandchildren, Megan and Travis and a great-grandchild, Joy.
