Ralph Franklin Cook, 83, of Albany, GA, died October 28, 2017 at Willson Hospice House. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church of Albany. Rev. Thad Haygood and Rev. Scott Stanfill will officiate. Interment will follow at 3:30 PM at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Cochran, GA.
He was a native of Cochran, GA and was born to the late Benjamin Franklin and Gertrude Floyd Cook on August 25, 1934. Mr. Cook graduated from Bleckley County High School and served in the United States Army during the end of the Korean War. He attended Middle Georgia College where he lettered in Football and graduated from Georgia Southern College in 1961.
After college, Mr. Cook served for six years as the Football and Girls Basketball Coach at Irwin County High School. For thirty-three years he was employed in the Agri-business field and retired in 1999 from IMC as General Manager. Mr. Cook moved to Albany, GA from Bainbridge, GA in 1997 and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Albany, the Georgia Cochran Sunday School Class, served as an Usher for many years and was a member of the Georgia Plant Food Society.
Survivors include his wife of forty years, Lorraine Cook of Albany, GA, his two children, Ralph F. “Frank” Cook, Jr. of Valdosta, GA and Beverly Ann Cook of Ocilla, GA, his grandchildren, Eric Cook and Kevin Cook both of Atlanta, GA, Hope Bullock of Ocilla, GA and Haley Bullock of Fitzgerald, GA, two great-grandchildren and two sisters, Dorothy Way and her husband, Sam of Hawkinsville, GA and Allawee Gaggstatter of Cumming, GA.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM Tuesday before the service at First United Methodist Church of Albany.
