Ralph R. Bruner, 79, of Albany, GA died March 9, 2013 at his residence. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 3:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Ken Myers and Rev. Dennis Lanning will officiate. Interment will follow in Floral Memory Gardens Cemetery.
A native of Coleman, GA born to the late Beamon D. and Mary Louise Bruner, he moved to Albany, GA from Clay County, GA in 1945 and graduated from Albany High School in 1954. Ralph was a member of the United States Army National Guard for twenty three years and retired as First Sergeant. He was the plantation manager for Blue Springs Plantation for forty two years and retired in 1998.
Ralph was a charter member of the Southern Field Trail Club and was a charter member of Quail Unlimited and the Albany Chapter where he served as Treasurer for many years. He was a member of Avalon United Methodist Church, the Bands of Gold Sunday School Class and Dougherty Lodge # 591 F&AM.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Stone Bruner of Albany, GA, a daughter and her husband, Patti and Ray Lester of Sycamore, GA, two sons, Roy Bruner and his wife, Sheila of Newton, GA and Michael Bruner of Albany, GA, his twin brother and his wife, Robert and Shirley Bruner of Albany, GA, two sisters, Cile Garrison and Helen Tanner and her husband, Louie all of Americus, GA, three grandchildren, William Horne and his wife, Stacy and April Horne all of Albany, GA and Lauralee Bruner of Newton, GA, three great-grandchildren, Kory Horne, Desierae Horne and Austin Horne and one great-great-grandchild, Aubree Horne.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM (one hour before) the funeral at Mathews Funeral Home.
