Phil Monfort, 77, of Fort Gaines, GA died Saturday, December 16, 2023 at his residence.
Phil was born on September 13, 1946 in Macon, GA to J. W. and Verna Monfort. He died on December 16, 2023 at his home in Ft. Gaines, Georgia after being in Hospice care for three weeks. He was seventy seven years of age at his death.
In his early years, Phil drove a race car (#97) on dirt tracks with his Dad, J.W. and his brother, Jack. He was an avid NASCAR fan throughout the years, following the M & M Mars crews closely as his favorite cars and drivers.
He loved hunting, fishing and was an avid outdoorsman. He received numerous awards for his marksmanship. He loved boating, and loved his animals. He enjoyed dog training and spending time with family and friends. He always enjoyed journaling the events of the day beginning with how his beloved "Bride" of forty three years was feeling and her plans for the day. After that he would carry on about the weather, lake levels, etc.
He served a four year stint in the U.S. Army which included time in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in 1969 as a Supply Sargent. After his service in the Army, he began a long career at M & M Mars in Albany, GA where he was duped the nickname, "Easy Money" by many of the employees at Mars. He retired from Mars in 1997 as manager of the Peanut Division. His years of retirement were enjoyed on Walter F. George Lake in Ft. Gaines, GA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Benny Monfort, Jack Monfort and Kenny Monfort.
He was a faithful member and deacon of the Shiloh Baptist Church in Ft. Gaines, GA since 2015.
Survivors include his wife, Pamela Ethridge Monfort, Ft. Gaines, GA, son, Phillip Monfort and a daughter, Kim Mulford and her husband, Jason Mulford all of Albany, GA, sister, Judy Holloway and her husband, Randy, Melba, Idaho, sister-in-law, Pat Monfort, Albany, GA, Nepson and family, Ryan Stone and his wife Jaycee and their children Ryleigh Stone and Hayden Stone, Baconton, GA , two grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, January 27, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church, 1974 Cotton Hill Road, Ft. Gaines, GA, 39851. Pastor Phil Thomas and Brother Randy Stokes will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at Shiloh Baptist Church.
