Perry Chapman (GySt, USMC Ret.), 87, of Albany, GA, died July 18, 2016 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 AM at Lakeside Baptist Church. Rev. Ken Chancellor will officiate. Interment will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery. The American Legion Post # 30 will serve as pallbearers and provide Military Honors.
A native of Chattanooga, TN, Mr. Chapman graduated from High School and joined the United States Marine Corps. He served for twenty two years, serving in Korea and Vietnam. His last station was the Marine Corps Logistic Base in Albany, GA, retiring in 1970. After his retirement, Mr. Chapman continued working with the Base as a heavy equipment mechanic.
He was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church and the American Legion Post # 30. Mr. Chapman was also a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason and a member of Dougherty Lodge # 591 F&AM.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Chapman of Albany, GA, a son, David Chapman and his wife, Allison of Lafayette, LA, a step-son, Rick Bailey of Waverly Hall, GA, a step-grandson, Jayson Sikes of Lee County, GA, a sister, Carolyn Goodwin and her husband, Gary of Signal Mountain, TN and a brother, Don Reynolds and his wife, Evelyn Reynolds of Ft. Myers, FL.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home.
