Patricia Anne Commander Duke, of Shellman, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at her residence at the age of 79. Visitation services will be held at Mathews Funeral Home in Albany, Georgia, on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Following this, a graveside service will take place at Eastview Cemetery in Shellman, Georgia, at 12:00 PM. Rev. Bruce Pittman will officiate.
Born on February 8, 1946, in Randolph County, to the late Wesley B. and Laurette Strickland Commander. She graduated from Randolph High School and then attended beautician school to receiver her cosmetology certificate.
Throughout her life, Patricia devoted herself to her work as a beautician, a career that spanned many years and showcased her passion for helping others feel their best. Patricia's warm spirit was complemented by her love for life, which was evident in her hobbies and interests. She enjoyed camping, dancing, and traveling, along with a deep appreciation for old country music, and she could be often found relaxing in her favorite recliner. She loved her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Patricia was a member of First Baptist Church of Shellman, and attended Rehoboth Baptist Church when she could.
Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, John Alva Duke, and her son, Tony McCook, siblings, Joyce Commander and Sonny Commander, Great- Grandchild, Rael Favela.
Patricia is survived by her son, James Thomas "Tommy" McCook (Candise), of Shellman, Georgia; step-daughters Pam Duke Taylor (Cleve), of Leesburg, Georgia, and Sheila Marie Watson (Michael), of Valdosta, Georgia. She also leaves behind her sister, Brenda Smith, and several cherished grandchildren: Jamie McCook (Katie) of Preston, Georgia, Alana Frandsen (Dylan) of Leesburg, Georgia, Luke McCook of Morris Station, Georgia, Kelci McCook of Shellman, Shyala Glass of Shellman, Georgia, and Nathan Ferris of Shellman, Georgia, great-grandchildren, Bryson McCook, Cooper McCook, Romeo Favela, Taylor Frandsen, Clay Glass, Robert Cole Glass.
