Othorus M. Rogers, 85, of Albany, GA, died Thursday, July 26, 2012 at his residence. Graveside funeral services will be held Monday at 11:30 AM at Crown Hill Cemetery. Rev. Bobby Moye will officiate. The American Legion Post # 30 will conduct Military Honors.
A native of Worth County, GA, born to the late Dewey and Julia Rogers, Mr. Rogers was raised in Doerun, GA and graduated from Doerun High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and received the Purple Heart. Mr. Rogers retired with the Marine Corps Logistic Base and was a Baptist by faith. He was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans, a member of The American Legion Post # 30 and The Benevolent and Protective Order of The Elks # 713.
Survivors include his wife of fifty seven years, Johnnie W. Rogers of Albany, GA, a daughter and son-in-law, Renee and John Gargano of Albany, GA, two sisters, Montine Hembree and her husband, Richard of Sylvester, GA and Jeanne Hooks and her husband, Wayne of Macon, GA and two brothers, Murray L. Rogers and his wife, Doris of Brunswick, GA and Hubert Rogers of Leesburg, GA.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7:00 PM until 8:30 PM at Mathews Funeral Home.
