OLIVIA WILLIAMS STRICKLAND, daughter of William Isaiah Williams and Elizabeth Duff Williams, passed away on January 23, 2018, from ovarian cancer. Livie was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Cissy (Elizabeth Allen). Livie was born April 1, 1956 (which fell on Easter Sunday that year, as well as being April Fool’s Day) in Hampton, Virginia. Billy Williams (father) was in the U.S. Air Force, so Livie had the opportunity to live in many places - including Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, California, Georgia, as well as Germany. She graduated from Albany High School. She moved to Dothan, Alabama, then later to Memphis, TN, where she met her husband of 31 years, Bill Strickland. In 1995 they moved to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, where they remained. Livie loved the beautiful weather and was able to walk to the beach, which she did almost daily for years. Livie and Bill have one child, Taylor Strickland, born 6/25/1997, who currently resides in Orlando, Florida. Livie is survived by three brothers (Barney, Billy and Jon Williams) and two sisters (Janie May and Becky Williams), as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Olivia worked for Rehab Medical Billing Service with her nephew, Bill Williams. She was the light of our lives – with a true joie de vivre, always quick with a joke, always laughing, making friends wherever she went. She loved music and had a passion for playing bingo. She was a fantastic mother and was truly devoted to her son, Taylor. She will be greatly missed. Visitation will be held at Mathews Funeral Home in Albany, GA, from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, February 1, with funeral services at Mathews Funeral Home on February 2 at 11 a.m. with interment at Riverside Cemetery in Albany. The family will receive friends after the services at Olivia’s sister (Becky Williams) residence. 1802 11th Avenue, Albany, GA 31707. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Hospice of Catholic Health Services in Ft. Lauderdale. “Have I not commanded you, be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9)
