We are sad to announce that Elaine Mask Olin died on March 20, 2025 at Evergreen Assisted Living. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at 12:00 Noon at Mathews Funeral Home, Albany GA. Jennifer Sherling will officiate. Interment will follow in Andersonville National Cemetery at 2:00 pm.
Elaine was born in Birmingham, AL on December 14, 1925 to Lewis George Mask and Nora Lucille Cochran. She grew up in Mount Olive, just outside of Birmingham, where she attended and graduated with honors from high school. She married the late James L. Norris, Sr. in 1944 and was a military (Air Force) wife until 1962. She and James lived at numerous military installations including at Grand Island, Nebraska, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Fairbanks, Alaska, Lakeland, Georgia, West Palm Beach, Florida, Biloxi, Mississippi then Albany, Georgia. She was a long-time civil service employee at Turner AFB and at Albany Marine Corps Logistics Center. Elaine was a member of Porterfield Methodist Church and wasvery active in the Crape Myrtle Chapter 163 Order of the Eastern Star, where she is a past Worthy Matron. Her family was her joy in life and our family celebrations were epic.
Elaine was loved and cared for at Evergreen Assisted Living. Her family is eternally grateful to the entire staff for their dedication. Near the end, Phoebe Hospice was also involved in her care. We wish to thank them for their dedication and care. Elaine was preceded in death by her first husband, James L. Norris, Sr., her second husband Benjamin Houston of Poulan, GA and her third husband Donald F. 0lin of Albany; her son, James L. "Jim" Norris Jr., her brother Joel T. Mask and two sisters, Evelyn Mask Winegard and Sarah Ann Mask Hill.
Survivors include children, Steven L. (Carol) Norris of Warner Robins GA, Terry Norris (Dave) Avera of Leesburg GA, David 0. (Jessica) Norris of Noblesville, IN, Scott A. (Stacey) Houston of Tallahassee FL, a daughter-in-law Diane Norris of Albany GA and a brother, James L. Mask of Birmingham AL.; her grandchildren Shonda Norris (Jeff) Betts, Holly Norris (Stacy) Pierce, April Norris (Joey) Barnett, George ``Cub" (Sheila) Smith, Heather Smith (Jared) Wohrley, Steven L. (Rachel) Norris, Jr, Tammy Norris (Bruce) Marshall, Dave Norris, Patrick (Riya) Norris, Joseph Norris, Ben W. (Emma) Houston, Elizabeth (John Henry) Moran. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until Noon Tuesday at Mathews Funeral Home.
