Nita Dyes Wingate died Friday, January 31, 2014 at Presbyterian Home of Quitman, Quitman, GA. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, February 3, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Chuck Smith will officiate. Interment will follow in Floral Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Born in Lee Co, GA, Mrs. Wingate had resided in Albany, GA all of her adult life before moving to Quitman, GA seven years ago. She was a home maker along with being the co-owner of Jeanne's Flower Shop, a wedding organizer and planner and worked with Sam's Club. She was past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the BPOE # 713 and a member of the Loyal Order of Moose. She was a member of Kinchafoonee Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Grady William Wingate, Sr., a son, Grady Edgar Wingate and a daughter, Nita Ann Wingate Howell. She was a loving and devoted Mother, Nanny and Friend.
Survivors include two sons, William Wingate (Connie) and Tommy Wayne Wingate both of Albany, GA, two daughters, Cheryl Wingate Harpe (Brad), Albany, GA, Linda Wingate Anderson (David), Lee Co., GA, a sister, Reba Moree, Quitman, GA, grandchildren, Melissa Wingate Harpe, Roger Cook, Maria Cook, Anita Cook, Robby Howell, Christy Carter, Amanda Wingate, David Wayne Anderson, Margo Mills, Melinda Anderson and seventeen great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home.
The family is at the residence of David and Linda Anderson, 1222 Lovers Lane Rd., Leesburg, GA.
