Naomi E. âNellâ Tillman, 96, of Dawson, GA, died Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at her residence. Graveside funeral services will be held Friday, December 22, 2017 at Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery in Alma, GA at 11:30 a.m. Rev. Earl Tillman will officiate.
Born in Zwolle, LA to Samuel and Edna Webb Sanderson, Mrs. Tillman grew up and attended Zwolle High School where she was as outstanding basketball player. She was living in Shreveport, LA during World War II where she met her late husband, Frederick C. Tillman who was serving in the United States Army. Mrs. Tillman moved to Alma, GA at the end of World War II. She moved with her young family to Albany in 1953 where she was a member of Mercedes Baptist Church and was employed with MacGregor Golf Co. and Fritex. She created a home where her husband and where her children could thrive, grow, and be loved.
Survivors include her daughters, Ann Miller of Lee County, GA, Peggy McConnell (Jerry) of Dawson, GA, her son, Dr. Rick Tillman (Sally) of Bowdon, GA, her grandchildren, Richard C. Miller, II of Griffin, GA, Beth Acker (Price), Walt Tillman and Sara Claudia Tillman, all of Carrollton, GA, and her caretaker who loved and took care of her, Mary Jones.
