Myrtle Taylor Yokem

Myrtle Taylor Yokem, 85, of Sasser GA, formerly of Albany, GA, passed away on July 12, 2024 at her sister’s residence. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at Mathews Funeral Home at 10:00 AM. Mr. Ross Powell will officiate. The family will receive following the service. 

She was born on June 17, 1939, in Caraway, Arkansas, to the late Clint Richard and Bertha Jones Taylor. She had lived in Sasser and in Albany for the last several years, she had lived majority of her life in Danville, IND., She spent many years working as a nurse assistant at the Washington Nursing Home in Washington Indiana, in her later years, she found fulfillment in volunteering at the Danville Public Library.

Myrtle was known for her love of reading and word search puzzles. She also had a deep appreciation for flowers and the beauty they brought into the world. 

She is survived by her son, Richard Wolfe (Vicky) of Lagrange, GA, her siblings: Mary Breasette of Swainsboro, GA; Paula J. Watson of Sasser, GA; Richard Taylor of Cadiz, Ky; and William Taylor of Danville, IN. Additionally, her grandchildren: Blake Wolfe, Ashley Davis, Grant Wolfe, Wade Wolfe; as well as her great-grandchildren Owen and Oliver.

Myrtle was preceded in death by her beloved sister Katherin "Katie" Taylor Spindler.
