Millard Lamar Snell, 91, of Lee County, GA, died July 6, 2017 at his residence. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00 AM at Mathews Funeral Home. Roger Martin will officiate. Interment will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the United States Navy.
A native of Graceville, FL, Mr. Snell joined the United States Navy after High School and served during World War II. After the military, he moved to Winston-Salem, NC where he met his wife, Janeva Jenkins. In 1951 Mr. Snell moved his young family back to Holmes County, FL and lived until moving to Albany, GA in 1964.
He was the third person hired to build and open the M & M Mars Plant and was employed there until his retirement in 1985. Mr. Snell loved to work in his garden and yard and was affectionally know to the neighborhood children as "PaPa Nell". He was preceded in death by his son, Jimmy Lamar Snell in 2009.
Survivors include his wife, Janeva Snell, three daughters, Vicky Snell Rogers, Mittie Snell Bryan and her husband, Alan and Pattie Snell Fackler and her husband, Bruce all of Lee County, GA, ten grandchildren, Stephen L. Snell, Ryan Snell, Kyle (Elizabeth) Snell, Rebecca Rogers, Jennifer Rogers, Chris (Beth) Bryan, Craig Bryan, Corey Bryan, David B. Fackler and Russell M. Fackler and six great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm until 4:00 PM Sunday at Mathews Funeral Home.
