Mildred Nunnelley Crabtree

Mildred Nunnelley Crabtree, 82, of Albany, GA died Monday, September 24, 2018 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at First Free Will Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery. Rev. Billy D. Hanna will officiate.

Born in Joppa, AL to the late Homer J. and Icel Gay Copeland Nunnelley, Mrs. Crabtree graduated from Ryan High School in Joppa, and had lived in Albany since 1962. She received her undergraduate degree from Berry College, her Master Degree in Education from the University of Georgia, and worked for the Georgia Department of Human Resources for thirty-five years. After retirement, she volunteered at Easter Seals, as administrative support at her church and in the “Whiz Kids” program. Mrs. Crabtree was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church, attending the Christian Laborers Sunday School Class.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Leroy Crabtree, three brothers, Harold Nunnelley, Holbert Nunnelley, Dee Nunnelley, and three sisters, Nadine Maze, Eloise Black, and Bernice Cook. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and William Whittenberg, and her grandchildren, Erich Whittenberg and Isabelle Whittenberg, all of Berlin, Germany.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at First Free Will Baptist Church.
