Michael A. Wakem

Michael Anthony Wakem, 68, of Lee County, GA, died December 09, 2024 at his residence. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 13, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Ray Levreault will officiate. Interment will follow in Leesburg Cemetery. 

Michael was born in Caribou, ME on August 7, 1956 to Mitchell and Ruth Wakem. He grew up in Caribou and moved to Lee County, GA 2003. Michael was employed with O’Reilly Auto Parts for many years. He and his wife, GiGi, enjoyed riding their Harley’s together and he enjoyed woodworking and cooking.  

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Gigi Wakem of Lee County, GA, his children, Mindy (Ethan) Oxenrider of Lee County, Mark (Karen) Wakem of Poland, ME, Matthew (Rebecca) Wakem of Woodland, ME and Mitchell Wakem of Scottsdale, AZ, his siblings, Edwina Vincent and Joann Lewis both of Caribou, ME and Eva Ouellette of Stockholm, ME, his grandchildren, Branden, Blake (deceased), Nathan, Kenzie, Macy, Madi, Noble, Mikey, Regan, Harper and Alden and two great-grandchildren, Lilly and Miya. 

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm Friday before the service at Mathews Funeral Home. 

Those desiring to make memorials in memory of Michael, can bring an unwrapped toy or donation that will be donated to the upcoming motorcycle run before Christmas.
