Michael Kevin Coalson

Michael Kevin Coalson, 48, of Leesburg, GA, took his final flight and went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 30, 2016. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, February 4, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Rev. Neal Hager and Rev. Ron Shiver will officiate.

Kevin Coalson was born on August 10, 1967 at Phoebe Putney and went home to Baconton, Georgia where he was raised and lived until he finished high school at Mitchell-Baker. He was the middle child and second son of Patricia F. Osteen and Gary LaWayne Coalson. Mr. Coalson had resided in Lee Co., GA since 1998.

Kevin graduated with the 65th Georgia State Patrol Trooper School in November, 1991. He was a retired Georgia State Trooper and was a former pilot in the Georgia State Patrol (GSP) Aviation Unit. Kevin loved the work he did as a State Trooper and in the GSP Aviation Unit and his love for flying continued after his retirement from the Georgia State Patrol.

Kevin was a devoted family man and was a friendly, fun loving and giving man. Kevin never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a hand. Kevin made his home in Lee County with his wife, Michelle. He loved flying, fishing and spending time with his children, grandchildren, family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Michelle Martin Coalson, two sons, Michael Coalson (Jennifer), Martin Coalson (Haley) all of Lee Co., GA, father and stepmother, Wayne Coalson and Yvonne, Camilla, GA, mother and stepfather, Trish Osteen and Bobby Creech, Baconton, GA, a brother, Tim Coalson (Rhonda), Mitchell Co., GA, a sister, Ginger Huckans (Chris), Thomasville, GA and eight grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Albany Bible Church, 100 Grand Island Dr., Albany, GA, 31707.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association, Alzheimer's Association, Children's Miracle Network, Phoebe Foundation or We Ride to Provide Georgia.
