Michael Brooks

Michael Brooks, 61, of Sylvester, GA, died November 27, 2016 at Willson Hospice House. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 4:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Sylvester. Rev. David Willard and Rev. Bruce English will officiate. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery with Military Honors and Masonic Rites.

Born in Mobile, AL, Michael grew up in Albany, GA and graduated from Dougherty High School in 1973. He graduated from Albany Vocational College and served in the United States Air Force during Vietnam.

Michael was employed and retired from M & M Mars and was currently employed with the Marine Corps Logistic Base in Albany. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sylvester, Dougherty Lodge # 591 F & AM in Albany and the American Legion Post # 335 in Sylvester.

Michael was active by teaching Sunday School at the First Baptist Church of Sylvester, coaching Recreational Sports and was a dedicated Worth County Band Booster.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanne Humphrey Brooks of Sylvester, GA, a daughter, Emily Lackey and her husband, Richard of Albany, GA, a son, Jacob Brooks of Sylvester, GA, a brother, Bland Brooks of Albany, GA, an uncle, Hollis Bridier of Saraland, AL, a host of cousins, his Sunday School and Youth Students, his recreational athletes and his Worth County Band Babies.

The family will be at the residence of Emily and Richard Lackey.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday at Mathews Funeral Home.
