Melvin Randolph Scott

Melvin Randolph "Randy" Scott, 65, of Leesburg, GA, died Sunday February 1, 2015, at his residence. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at 4:00 p.m. at Amazing Grace Baptist Church. Rev. Grady Morey and Rev. Morris Harpe will officiate.

Born in Americus, GA, Randy graduated from Leslie High School in 1967. He had resided in Lee County since 1972, moving from Sumter County, GA. One of the fondest memories of Randy was the early years of the startup of Lee County Dixie League Baseball and coaching football. This was a part of his life he loved and he touched a lot of lives through these years.

Randy was an active member of The Dougherty County Saddle Club for many years. He was also very involved with his children during their competition in horse shows and Randy loved hunting and training bird dogs.

Randy was the owner of Randy's Bar B-Que in Leesburg, GA prior to owning and operating Sowega Chemical Company and he was an active member of Amazing Grace Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife Joy Scott, his children Kevin Scott and his wife, Stacey of Leesburg, and Kim Davis and her fiancee, Ricky Rice of Leesburg, GA, a sister, Cecilia Ann "Cissy" Chambless and her husband, Richard of Dawson, GA and four grandchildren, Jackson Scott Hailey Scott, Kyndall Scott, and Lauren Davis all of Leesburg, GA.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Amazing Grace Baptist Church.
