Melvin Taylor Parr, 90, of Lee County, GA, died October 3, 2017 at his residence. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Aaron McCulley will officiate. Interment will follow in Floral Memory Gardens with Military Honors provided by the American Legion Post # 30. A native of Baker County, GA, born to the late Sylvester and Mammie Lou Parr, he grew up in the Patmos Community and graduated from Elmodel High School. He joined the United States Navy in 1944 and served during World War II. After his Military Service, Mr. Parr moved to Albany, GA where he was employed with the Marine Corps Logistic Base for thirty years and moved to Lee County in 1999. He was a member of Philema Road Baptist Church and the VFW Post # 2785. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nadine Mathis Parr, Survivors include his children, Melvin “Mel” T. Parr, Jr. of Albany, GA and Holli Parr Sigmon all of Lee County, GA, a sister, Gloria Smith of Albany, GA and his only grandson, Taylor Theron Roberts of Lee County, GA The family will receive friends from Thursday from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home.
