Melissa Kathleen Hernandez Smith

Melissa Kathleen Hernandez Smith, 45, of Carlisle, PA passed away Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at UPMC Pinnacle Hospital following a short illness. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. Pastor Herb Hubbard and Mr. Michael Daniel Hernandez will officiate. Interment will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery in Albany, GA.

A native of Savannah, GA, Melissa attended Calvary Baptist Day School and was a graduate of Brenau Academy in Gainesville, GA. She was also a graduate of Joel and Company in Savannah GA. And was a licensed Master Cosmetologist. Melissa was a life-long member of the First Christian Church in Savannah, GA. Melissa was preceded in death by her father, Frank J. Hernandez, Jr., maternal grandparents, B. A. Ryals, Sr. and Maude A. Ryals and paternal grandparents, Frank J. Hernandez, Sr. and Mary Hernandez.

Melissa is survived by her son, Connor Reid Smith, Maysville, GA, her mother and step-father, Sheryl R. Shipley and Billy L. Shipley, Jr., Albany, GA, two sisters, Kelly Hernandez Draper (Brian) and Ryann Hernandez Revell (Mason), Albany, GA, a niece, Julia Revell, two nephews, Jack Revell and Finn Draper, step-brother, Geoffrey Shipley (Angie), Leesburg, GA, step-sister, Jami Grooms (P.J.), Johnson City, TN. and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

The family will receive family and friends one hour prior to service at Mathews Funeral Home.
