Mattie Sue Combs

Mattie Sue Gray Combs, 83, of Albany, GA passed away on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at her residence. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, July 9, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Robert Sorrow and Rev. Dana Swain will officiate. Interment will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery.
Born in Enigma, Ga, Mrs. Combs had resided in Albany since 1972 moving from Lubbock, TX. She was a homemaker and a member of Liberty Parkway Church of God where she was president of the Ladies Ministry Group for twenty five years and a Sunday school teacher for over fifty years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Clifford Gray and Thelma Bishop Gray, a sister, Laura Nell Roper and a brother, Leo Stacy Gray.
Survivors include her husband of sixty three years, Utah Combs, Albany, GA, two sons, Robert Carroll Combs, Houston, TX, Kenneth Eugene Combs (Diane), McDonough, GA, two daughters, Carolyn Rogers, Leesburg, GA, Laura Jean Key ( Bennie Joe), Lucedale, MS, two sisters, Hazel Gray Eddins, Camilla, GA, Martha Ellen Baldwin, Rainsville, AL, nine grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Albany Community Hospice for all of the love and care shown to them during this time and to Jessie Sheffield a special caregiver.
