Mary Catherine Simmons, 81, of Albany, GA, passed at home on June 11, 2019. Ms. Simmons was a native of Long Beach, California. In 1980, after many years of travel all over the country, Ms. Simmons settled in Albany with her family. Ms. Simmons may be most remembered as the Food and Beverage Director for the Greenery Restaurant inside the Ramada Inn on North Slappey Blvd where, for over 15 years, she was most known for her Sunday buffet, famous prime rib dinner, and special events. Ms. Simmons spent her retirement enjoying woodworking, oil painting, gardening, and building her backyard paradise.
She was preceded in death by her parents Donald Vinzant of OR and Phylline Vinzant of CA, her husband of 46 years Edward N. Simmons, Sr. of Albany, and ex-husband Kenneth C. Hageny of AZ.
Survivors include her beloved pet cat Happy of Albany; her children Michael Simmons of CO, Patrick Wilson of Albany, Tina (Jerry) Cass of TN, Laura (Betty) Hageny of Albany, Lisa (Tony) Buck of Albany; her stepchildren Edward N. Simmons, Jr., David A. Simmons, and Peter L. Simmons all of HI; grandchildren Ashlee (Tyler) Cone of TX and Anthony G. Buck, Jr. of Albany; and one great grandchild Rosemary Cone.
