Mary (Joanie) Mims

Mary J. "Joanie" Mims of Albany, GA, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, July 2, 2016 peacefully at her home. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Friendship Baptist Church, Lee Co., GA. Rev. Grady Morey and Rev. Mark Spraggins will officiate. Interment will follow at Floral Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Mrs. Mims was born in Germany on December 11, 1950. She moved to Albany, GA in 1964 and was a graduate of Dougherty High School and ABAC and later met her husband of thirty six years. She was a devoted and loving wife, daughter, mother, grandmother and friend. Her servant's heart and gentle spirit will be remembered by all. She worked as a registered nurse for thirty three years. She was a founding member of Friendship Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dewey Hayes McNair and Mary Knighton McNair and a brother Bill McNair.

Survivors include her husband, Dan Mims, Albany, GA, three daughters, Anita Riggle (Eric), Divide, CO, Ashley Gomez (Alfredo), Flintsone, GA, Amy Mims, Chattanooga, TN, two grandsons, Jason Riggle and Andrew Gomez, a granddaughter, Gretchen Riggle, a nephew, Kevin McNair and a niece, Kelly Goranson.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home.
