Mary McCracken Johnson, 89, of Albany, GA, died January 10, 2017 at Pruitt-Palmyra Health Care. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home. Pastor Pete Daugherty will officiate. Interment will follow in Cool Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Johnson was born in Hartsfield, GA to the late Charlie and Alma McCracken. She was raised in Moultrie, GA and moved to Albany, GA in 1952. Along with her husband, Mrs. Johnson owned and operated Johnson Grocery and Service Station on Newton Road until 1969. She was also employed with Riverside Mills and Sylvester Textiles.
After her retirement, Mrs. Johnson served as a Home Caregiver. Mrs. Johnson was a former member of Antioch Baptist Church and a current member of Northside Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter and her husband, Cyles and Carl Hill and a son, Dewey Curtis Johnson all of Albany, GA, two sisters, Willie Mae Barwick of Putney, GA and Virginia Tucker of Albany, GA, two grandchildren, Cassia Adams of Gadsden , AL and Auston Johnson of Lee County, GA and four great-grandchildren, Isaac Adams, Israel Adams, Jaylinn Johnson and Maddex Johnson.
The family is at the residence of Cyles and Carl Hill.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral at Mathews Funeral Home.
