Martin H. Stratis, Sr., 64, of Albany, GA died Monday, August 30, 2021 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital due to MDS Blood Cancer. The family has made the decision to hold no services at this time. Marty was immune comprised and fought to stay safe during Covid-19 so in honor of his fight and out of respect for the safety of others this decision was made. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Marty was born on January, 8, 1957 in Norfolk, VA to Anastasios "Nick" and Mary Lou Stratis. Marty was a member of the Dougherty County High School Class of 1975. He served as a Bomb Loader in the US Air Force. Marty retired from the US Postal Service where he made many lifelong friendships. Marty was an avid fisherman and a creative artist. He loved creating Propeller hats and his larger-than-life-size mail box. He enjoyed beach and casino trips with Suzi and friends. Tony will cherish their visit to Windmere Casino two weeks ago. Marty will always be "Dad" to Junior and Ryan, "Sweet" to Suzi, and "Party Marty" to Tonya. Marty fought until the very end with such a quiet determination that we could hardly believe he was literally fighting for his own life. He will be remembered for his kindness, laughter and love for family and friends.
