Martha Elizabeth Thompson Watkins, 90, of Stonegate Manor Circle, Leesburg, GA went to be with her Lord and Savior January 5, 2014. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Thursday at Leesburg Cemetery. Rev. Bruce Smith, Rev. Conway Harris, and Rev. Calvin James will officiate.

Born in Calhoun County Mrs. Watkins and her family moved to Leesburg over 80 years ago. Early in her career she was a homemaker and worked for Jamison Bedding Co. and retired after eighteen years. She was a charter member of New Hope Baptist Church and Adult Sunday school class.

After years of growing up and raising children and grandchildren on a farm Mrs. Watkins developed a love for outdoor activities such as fishing and planting and caring for flowers. Mrs. Watkins loved watching Atlanta Braves baseball. She was known for many names Mama, Granny, Ms. E., Mama E., Lizzie and Luva.

She was preceded in death by her husband V.N. (Bud) Watkins of fifty two years, a daughter Ginger Carol Watson, a grandson Cecil Dale Watkins, her parents Iverson P. and Carrie Thompson, and siblings, Iverson Thompson, Carl Thompson, Carrie Scott and Lillian Howard.

Mrs. Watkins is survived by her children Martha Ann Parker of Lee County, Cecil Virgil Watkins and friend Wanda McKibben of Lee County, Helen Elizabeth Bailey of Camden Tenn., Crystal Watkins Goff and husband Eddie Goff of Lee County, a son-in-law Allen Watson of Lee County, grandchildren Tina Morell of Lee County, Gina and her husband Wayne Ethridge also her caregivers of Lee County, Tammy and her husband Morris Wellington of Lee County, Lisa and her husband Donnie Worrell of Lee County, Rodney Watson and his wife Angie of Lee County, Jody Watson and his wife Angie of Lee County, Heather Watson of Lee County, Jamie Bailey and wife LeighAnne of Camden Tenn., and Terry Watkins and his wife Cheryl of Columbus, GA., eighteen great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren.

The Family will receive friends Wednesday from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home
