Marie Scruggs Spence

Marie Scruggs Spence, 88, of Kathleen, GA, formerly of Albany, GA, died July 23, 2014 at Coliseum Medical Center in Macon, GA. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:30 AM at Mathews Funeral Home. Mr. James Sizemore will officiate. Interment will follow in Leesburg Cemetery.

A native of Thomaston, GA, born to the late William R. and Minnie O. Scruggs, Mrs. Spence had resided in Albany, GA since 1967 and moved to Kathleen, GA nine years ago. She was a homemaker and attended Harvest Church in Warner Robins, GA. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty one years, James R. (Jim) Spence.

Survivors include a daughter, Pat Smith (Jim Wells) of Azores Islands, three sons, Ricky (Connie) Spence of Leesburg, GA, Donnie (Ellen) Spence of Kathleen, GA and Jeff Spence of Albany, GA, three grandchildren, Will Spence of Athens, GA, Anna Spence of Kathleen, GA, and Morgan Spence of Camp Pendleton, CA.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:30 until 11:30 before the service at Mathews Funeral Home.
