Margie A. Stocking

Margie Matthews Stocking, 71, of Leesburg, GA, died Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at Willson Hospice House. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 24, 2018, at 7:00 p.m., at Mathews Funeral Home. Mr. Stephen Stocking will officiate.

A native of Albany, GA., Mrs. Stocking attended Albany High School. After high school she focused on raising her 3 sons, being a good wife, and serving the Lord. Eventually Mrs. Stocking attended Albany Technical College, then Albany Junior College, where she received and Associated Degree in nursing. She became a Registered Nurse and worked for Palmyra Park Hospital for 30 years until retirement. Mrs. Stocking was voted “Best of the Best Nurse” in 1992. She and her husband Ronnie moved to Lee County in 1996, and she was a member of the Lee County Church of Christ.

Mrs. Stocking enjoyed music, drawing, painting, dancing, and the beach. She never met a stranger. Family and friends were her passion and delight, and she was always there when someone wanted to talk, needed a hug, or needed a shoulder to cry on.

She is survived by her sons, Joseph Pait of Leesburg, GA., Terry A. Pait (MeChelle) of Bainbridge, GA., Robin L. Stocking of LaGrange, GA., two brothers, Julian Matthews (Joann) of CA., and Don Matthews (Sonya) of Daytona, FL., one sister Barbara Stocking of MO., five grandchildren, Holly Sparks, Sierra Poole, Kevin Pait, Debra Stocking and Jaxon Pait, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mrs. Stocking also had several friends that she considered extended family located in Albany, as well as other areas across the country.

In addition to her husband Ronald, Mrs. Stocking was preceded in death by her parents Jesse and Velma Matthews, Brothers Jack and Bill Fouche, and brother Jesse Matthews Jr.

The family will receive friends following the service.
